Short post today - workshopping a scene where it's yet another fete, but this time with certain characters and you realize their wives and significant others names are all...Elizabeth.
It is a popular name back in the 18th Century, but when Colonel Webb's 1st wife is Elizabeth Webb (nee Banacker), and then Ezekiel Belden's wife is Elizabeth Belden, and then there is Emily Edgar (nee Adamson) - not a Elizabeth, but with a name starting with an "E" - thrown into the mix. Oops.
Mary Floyd is the only that stands out in this fete. :P Thank you BT for marrying a Mary instead of an Elizabeth.
And both Elizabeths wanted to be known as Eliza and not Betsy.
Then you write the same scene and realize that there are way too many with the last name Webb. So now, in character POVs you have to differentiate between addressing them as Colonel Webb, Captain Webb, Joseph Webb - and how to figure out which Webb is said character addressing in their POV versus another character's POV and how they address the same Webb.
This fete...
This fete...and no duels. :P
